Fall Teas

Guest author: Mandy Baker

Fall has official made its appearance. The weather is changing, there is a crispness in the air, and the leaves are beginning to show us their reds, yellow, and oranges. If you’re like me, this makes you want to curl up with a hot cup of tea and good book. But, what teas pair best with that perfect chilly fall day?

When I inhale the scents of fall I smell spices like cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger. Fall also brings to mind the flavors of apples, pumpkins, and maple. When you are choosing a tea to pair with your favorite fall treat you munch on while curled up with that book, consider these options:

I know what you are thinking, this is a pretty obvious choice. Chai is one of the most well-known spiced teas available. However, with it’s blend of cinnamon, ginger, allspice, and nutmeg it truly is fall in a cup! This black tea combines each of those spices that are so inherent to this time of year that we can’t help but think of them when we think of fall.

Maple Cream-

This tea combines caramel flavor with a creamy smoothness. Pair it with your favorite pumpkin treat for another great fall flavor combination!

Cranberry Apple-

If you are more in the mood for a fruitier flavored tea, why not try a cranberry apple tea? This tea combines two of the favorite fruits of fall! Pair this one with a dessert that uses those fall spices to get a well-rounded taste of the season.

Scottish Breakfast Tea-

If you are looking for more traditional tea flavors that pack a punch and can give you that afternoon pick-me-up, then Scottish Breakfast Tea may be right for you. This is the strongest of the breakfast teas. It combines different types of tea, usually from China, Assam, Ceylon, Africa, and/or Indonesia. It’s a strong brew and just might replace that afternoon cup of coffee!

Spiced Orange-

This tea is the perfect combination of orange peel and cinnamon. It’s a great choice for those who are looking for a little bit of spice with a citrus flavor.

Which tea will you choose to warm up with on a chilly fall afternoon? If you are on the Oregon Coast, why not bring your book or a friend into La Tea Da Tearoom and try any one of these great flavors? You can also treat yourself and pair your tea with one of our special fall flavored treats like chai spiced cookies or salted caramel cheesecake. Whether you are brewing it at home or you are coming in to have tea with us, celebrate the season with these teas smell, feel, and taste like fall!
